Swedish EV makers have showcased the new Uniti One RV at 2018 Auto Expo. This five seater electric vehicle is slated for launch in India by 2020 and the company has entered into an agreement with Bird Automotive to use the company’s Manesar facility to assemble their vehicles in India.
Uniti One, the 5 seater EV has no steering wheel. It is seen with two joy sticks instead to accelerate and steer the vehicle and it is this joy stick equipped car that will be launched in the country. The interiors are seen with a 7” touchscreen infotainment system positioned between the joysticks.
This takes care of infotainment and social media updates and there is also a heads-up display that is cast on to the windscreen. It will be the three door, two bench Uniti One EV that will go on sale in Europe, however, India will receive a five door version of the car.
Uniti One will get its power via a 22kW lithium-ion battery. This offers a range of 200 kms on single charge. Use of Uniti’s fast charger will ensure that the battery gets charged from 0 to 90 percent in 20 minutes while a full charge will take 40 minutes. Charging via a standard wall 15A socket will take upto 3 hours for a full charge.
This 22 kW battery pack will be positioned on the floor of the Uniti One so as to maintain a low center of gravity. The car itself will be made of composite material made from steel and carbon fiber enhancing strength and rigidity. This 5 seater car for India will cover an approximate 200 kms on a single charge. The Swedish automaker has opened the Uniti One for booking at just INR 1,000 while the company is offering a 100 percent refund on booking deposit. More details at www.uniti.earth/in
