New Porsche 911 Carrera 4, Carrera 4 Convertible and Targa 4 have been unveiled ahead of launch. The models are similar in design to the regular 911 facelift but can be told apart by 44mm wider rear wheel arches and 3D rear light strip.
Sporting all wheel drive system, the 911’s are powered by new twin turbo 3.0 liter six cylinder engine. This engine offers 370 PS and 450 Nm of torque in the Carrera, while in the S variants this goes up to 420 PS and 500 Nm of torque. Fitted with a PDK and Sports Chrono package, the Porsche 911 Carrera 4 is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 kmph in 4.1 seconds while Carrera 4S Cabriolet and Targa 4S variants reach same speed in 3.8 seconds. Top speeds vary from 287 to 305 kmph.
All updated Porsche 911 variants receive adaptive Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) chassis system. Reducing ride height of 10mm enhances handling. Porsche is also presenting an all wheel drive system as an option which was otherwise only offered on higher end 911 GT3 and Turbo variants.
Porsche 911 Carrera 4 and 911 Targa 4 also receive visual updates which include revised light strip across the rear, new daytime running lights, revised tail lamps and new rear lid with vertical louvers. Interiors boast of Porsche Communication Management System (PCM) with voice control, 7-inch display and an updated navigation system with Apple CarPlay iPhone integration.
With the models heading to the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show next month, more details will be revealed. Pricing will vary from €103,983 (INR 76,22,070) for 911 Carrera 4 to €118,144 (INR 86,60,130) for 911 Carrera 4S and €131,234 (INR 96,20,869) for 911 Targa 4S.
