Volkswagen India appoints Dr Andreas Lauermann as new President and MD

Volkswagen India Private Limited has announced a new President and Managing Director at the helm.

With effect from July 1, 2015, Dr. Andreas Lauermann, 53, will be the new President and Managing Director of Volkswagen India. He will take the place of Mahesh Kodumudi who has been appointed to a responsible position at Volkswagen Group America. Kodumudi will however continue in an advisory role to Volkswagen India.

Dr. Lauermann joined Volkswagen AG in 1997 prior to which he was with TCW Tranfer-Centrum in Munich. In the company, he has commanded many positions right from industrial engineering to planning, production and strategies. Lauermann has held positions in Industrial Engineering at Volkswagen, Wolfsburg, Autoeuropa, Portugal and at VW Commercial Vehicles in Hannover.

He then took over as General Manager of RPU Division at VW Argentina in Pacheco in 2007 while in 2010 he was appointed head of Central Industrial Engineering and Optimization of Indirect Areas under VW Group. 2012 saw Lauermann as Head of Central Planning for FAW-VW in China, returning to Wolfsburg in early 2015 in Central Group Production Strategy and Planning.

Korumudi, 49, joined Volkswagen Group in 2008 and Volkswagen India more recently in March 2013 when he was appointed Executive Director – Corporate Purchase. He held the position of President and Managing Director at the Volkswagen Chakan plant and became Chief Representative of Volkswagen Group in India in March 2014.
