The VW Ameo India-specific compact sedan was first launched in June this year. At that time, it was only offered with a petrol engine. Today, VW India announced the launch of Ameo Diesel variant. Available in a choice of five trims, price of Ameo TDI ranges from INR 6.27 lakh to INR 9.21 lakh (ex-Mumbai), while ex-Delhi ranges from INR 6.33 lakh to INR 9.32 lakh.
Based on the Polo / Vento platform, Ameo is the most affordable car on offer in the VW India line-up currently. It was built at an investment of INR 750 crore and is being produced at VW’s plant in Pune. Below is the Ameo petrol and diesel variants.

Speaking about the upgraded diesel engine, it has been tweaked to deliver more power and better fuel efficiency. The 1.5 liter TDI aboard the Ameo will deliver 110 PS and 250 Nm of torque. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and a 7-speed DSG.
The updated motor would eventually make its way under the hoods of Polo, Vento and their respective Skoda counterparts.
Meanwhile, VW India recently introduced two after sales service package of the Ameo. Called VW Care and VW Care Plus, the packages are aimed at enhancing the ownership experience. The VW Care Plus offers 2+2 years extended warranty (up to 1,00,000 km), service value pack (4 free services – 4 years/ 60,000 km), road side assistance (2+2 years), two free inspection services, one free exterior cleaning treatment, and one free dry wash clean.
