Xiaomi has just launched a Smart Rear View Mirror, which can be installed in any car in the world. If your car is devoid of features like colour screen, infotainment, navigation, voice guidance or AI, this new device can help you with all the mentioned features.
This is not the first time that Xiaomi has launched such a device. Last year too they had launched a similar device. But, it was not this advanced, or smart. Plus, they have given the second gen of this device the Mi branding.
The 6.86-inch large touch-screen equipped Xiaomi Smart Rear View Mirror comes with an extensive feature list which includes Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), Forward Collision Warning (FCW) and Lane Departure Warning (LDW) and an voice assistant to name a few.
The current iteration is relatively more compact than its predecessor which had an 8.88-inch display. Xiaomi hasn’t added any color options and customers get the all-black variant as the default choice. However, to improve the performance, Xiaomi has introduced an aerospace grade aluminium material in the unique thermal wings which drastically improves the device’s cooling efficiency.
Camera duties are done by a Sony IMX291 image sensor which has good low-light capabilities too. The lens has a large aperture of f/1.8 and a 150° large wide angle. Apart from an option to integrate the reverse camera, the device can also do front & rear double recording at the same time.
The second generation Mi Smart Rear View Mirror has the new Small Love AI speaker integrated in it, which brings voice command functionality with it; so you can just ask it to play your favourite Bryan Adams or Jagjit Singh single, while you comfortably drive with focus on the road. Additionally, the smart rear-view mirror can also connect to the Mi Home app so that users can control their connected devices which are at home.
The Mi Rear View Mirror will be available for purchase for the Chinese customers from 3rd April, 2018 via Mi Home, Xiaomi Mall, Suning etc. Xiaomi could launch the product in India in the near future.
