The design concept could lead to a Vespa 946-like limited production model.

The inaugural Vietnam Motorcycle Show which kick started today witnessed the world premiere of the stunning Yamaha 04GEN scooter concept. Designed to preview the brand’s styling capabilities, the 04GEN concept is a radical interpretation of a premium retro classic runabout.

Yamaha says that the stylish concept is designed to ‘evoke the image of a woman with an air of dignified elegance and grace in mind and body’. The two-wheeler sports translucent body work which mimics the wings of an insect. The cantilevered brown saddle (the handlebar grips have matching appointments) reminds us of the Vespa 946.

The Yamaha O4GEN Concept's radical styling is further enhanced by translucent bodywork.

Rather than using an engine cover, the O4GEN concept adopts two retractable translucent wings which reveal the chassis, rear suspension and the engine. Glossy black alloy wheels, silencer, saddle-mounted LED taillights and futuristic white finished chassis members are the other styling highlights.

Yamaha has not revealed the technical specifications of the scooter. We expect it to be powered by a conventional compact displacement air-cooled, fuel-injected engine which is mated to a CVT.

The production prospects of the Yamaha 04GEN scooter concept has not been discussed yet. If at the Japanese automaker decides to bring it to life, it would most likely be a highly exclusive limited production model like the Vespa 946.
