Yamaha FZ25 R spied again – Detailing the front fairing
The new Yamaha FZ25 based fully faired motorcycle has been spied once again.
At the time of launch of the new FZ25, Yamaha India had stated that the new engine will spawn on to newer models in the future. And by future, Yamaha India probably means this year itself. Yes. The next bike to get the FZ25’s 250cc single cylinder engine will be FZ25 R.
Yamaha FZ25 R (speculated name) is based on the naked FZ25 which was launched earlier this year at a starting price of INR 1.2 lakh, ex-showroom. Based on this motorcycle, Yamaha India is now working towards launching a new 250 cc motorcycle which will take on the likes of Bajaj Pulsar RS 200, Honda CBR250R, Mahindra Mojo, KTM RC 200, upcoming TVS Akula and so on.
Powering the new Yamaha FZ 250 R will be a 250cc single cylinder engine, the same engine which powers the FZ25 in India. This fuel injected, air-cooled engine is mated to a six speed gearbox and delivers peak power of 20.9 PS / 8000 rpm and a peak torque of 20 Nm at 6000 rpm. These figures will more likely remain same for FZ25 R as well.
Speaking about design, the new FZ25 R is a more sporty looking bike with a muscular fairing in the front, LED headlamps, split seats, LED taillights at the rear, alloy wheels, disc brakes, wider tubeless tyres for extra grip, and so on. Below is the digital render in another colour.
Most of the parts will remain same as that of the FZ25. Performance might get subdued, due to the additional weight. Expect the fully faired variant to be about 10-15 kgs heavier than the naked FZ25. Price is expected to be in the range of INR 1.3 lakh to INR 1.5 lakh. More details will be revealed once the bike goes on sale later this year.
