Ford has gone full steam ahead at the Bangkok International Motor Show with three new offerings in the form of a rugged Ford Everest Concept, all new EcoSport and Fiesta. The new Everest Concept marks Fords entry into the mid-sized, seven seater SUV specifically with ASEAN and global markets in mind.
Ford EcoSport, one of the most sought after compact SUVs in India currently, was introduced in June 2013. It has taken over the utility vehicle segment by storm. Increased demand and more than expected bookings have thrown delivery schedules into a tizzy with the company trying to add another shift to counter burgeoning waiting period.
Ford Motor Company inaugurated the official start of production for the all-new Ford EcoSport urban SUV at its state-of-the-art Ford Thailand Manufacturing (FTM) plant in Rayong, Thailand. Ford EcoSport builds on the company’s successful product-led transformation, adding another segment-leading vehicle to their growing ASEAN market footprint.
Launched in India last year, the new EcoSport was recently spotted testing in the United States. This is surprising because Ford had earlier stated that they were not planning to launch the EcoSport in the US.
Ever since Ford India introduced the EcoSport compact SUV, their sales chart have reported growth, month after month. But, the streak broke in December 2013, when they registered a 10% decline in domestic sales.

Ford India has at the moment stopped EcoSport bookings across dealerships here. The compact SUV first made heads turn in Brazil, and has touched all the right notes in India, where it is made at their Chennai plant.
Honda unveiled the new Urban SUV production model at Tokyo Motor Show today. The vehicle is called Vezel for the Japanese market. To be launched in Europe during 2015, a name befitting the European model will be confirmed on a later date.
