Scania India rolls out their 1,000th truck from Narasapura plant

Scania India’s executives and employees were present at flagging off of the 1,000th truck, as it rolled off production lines at the company’s Narasapura plant near Bangalore.

Scania Commercial Vehicles India Pvt. Ltd becomes the second premium vehicle manufacturer in the country to see the accomplishment of rolling out 1,000th truck. This landmark achievement occurred just three years after the company’ truck manufacturing facility was set up in October 2013. The feat was regaled by management and employees as a notable accomplishment.

Mr. Anders Grundströmer, Managing Director, Scania India and Senior Vice President Scania Group and Mr. Richard Wardemark, Director Production and Service Operations, Scania India received the 1,000th truck from the assembly line. Grundströmer congratulated the staff and commended them on the hard work put in to reach these goals and seeing Scania emerge as among leading commercial vehicle makers in the country.

Speaking about Total Operating Economy (TOE) achieved where product quality and performance is concerned, Grundströmer enumerated plans to make a strong base in the country for sustainable transport system while Scania India will put in every effort to go along with the new ‘Make in India’ campaign.

Scania India has a total production capacity of 2,500 trucks and 1,000 buses with plans to increase capacities two fold by 2020 to 5,000 trucks and 2,500 buses per annum, while company employee count is also to be increased to 1,200.
