The new LED lighting signatures on the front and back with upcoming Mahindra XUV300 facelift seems inspired by BE range of born electric SUVs

Mahindra, India’s de facto SUV maker is currently on the verge of updating XUV300 sub 4m SUV. Falling in one of India’s most competitive car segment, XUV300 is currently not one of the highest sellers. With under 5,000 units sold last month, there is scope for growth in sales. That is exactly what Mahindra XUV300 facelift aims to bring.

Mahindra XUV300 Facelift Production Lighting Package

Until recently, Mahindra has been using generic and temporary headlights and tail lights on XUV300 facelift test mules. This may be because production-spec headlights and tail lights were not finalised or were still under development. That has changed now as recent spy shots have revealed production-spec headlights and tail lights.

For starters, Mahindra is taking a massive leap where design is concerned. This is evident with the new front fascia and LED DRL signature that seems to be inspired by BE range of Mahindra’s electric lineup. New LED DRL signature takes more than half of vertical real estate of front fascia.

New headlights are vertically arranged and there is a large circular projector unit below its DRL. This projector unit could have been sleeker, like on Nissan Magnite XV Premium. But what grabs the attention is its new LED DRL that doubles up as turn indicators. It would be dope if this entire element lit up as LED DRL all the way to the bottom.

That doesn’t seem to be the case as bottom half of this portion is likely to be just a plastic styling element. Front bumper is all new and so are the alloy wheels. In the reel posted by supercarsandbikesjammu Instagram channel, we can see all new connected LED tail lights with similar signatures towards the end but are lit completely. There is a high-mounted stop lamp as well.

Is the bulb on top of windshield ADAS module?

First seen in recent spy shots, XUV300 test mules have been consistently donning a bulb on top of their front windshield. This may be just a foam pad under camouflage to confuse prying eyes. But it could very well be an ADAS module too. Like on a Volvo EX90.

Mahindra is known to load its vehicles with features. With Venue introducing ADAS tech in sub 4m SUV segment, it would prove logical for Mahindra to offer its ADAS suite with Mahindra XUV300 facelift. As we said before, Mahindra is known to take design risks. Mahindra XUV300 don’t have any radar module in bumper like in XUV700. So, the bulb on front windshield has a good probability of being a housing for radars, cameras and sensors.

On the inside, a redesigned dashboard and a free-standing larger infotainment screen have been spotted. There are rumours of Mahindra introducing a panoramic sunroof feature into sub 4m SUV space with XUV300 facelift.

Powertrains are likely to remain the same – 1.2L 3-cylinder turbo petrol with 110 hp, 200 Nm tune and 130 hp, 230 Nm tune along with a 1.5L 4-cyl diesel with 115 hp and 300 Nm. There are rumours of an Aisin-sourced torque converter, replacing the 6-speed AMT as well.
