As kids, most of us were fascinated by speed. What is the top speed? That was probably the most important question as a young kid one had, and not kitna deti hain. Some are even fascinated even after they get old.

With most enthusiasts now buying motorcycles in the range of INR 1-2 lakh, here is a list of 10 fastest motorcycles which are on sale in India in the segment. (The top speed mentioned are revealed by the company)

10 – Royal Enfield Classic 500

Royal Enfield Classic 500 is positioned above the Classic 350 from which it borrows extensive styling. It follows a retro theme with added chrome accents and resembles a post war motorcycle with its vintage theme. Royal Enfield 500 gets a radical instrument cluster, with distinctive headlamps, tail lamps and fuel tank with event the seat bearing a vintage appeal.

The lack of a pillion seat is clearly evident with only a single seat for the rider. The pillion seat can be bought as an accessory. The rounded headlamp design sports Tiger Eye Lamps and the tail lamp too gets a classic design.

Royal Enfield Classic 500 gets its power via a BS IV compliant 499cc, single cylinder, 4 stroke, Twinspark engine offering 27.2 bhp peak power at 5,250 rpm and 41.3 Nm torque at 4,000 rpm mated to a 5 speed constant mesh gearbox. It gets a 13.5 liter capacity fuel tank with fuel efficiency of 35 kmpl and top speed of 131 kmph with acceleration from 0 to 100 kmph completed in 10 seconds.

The Classic 500 measures 2,140mm in length, 790mm in width and 1,090mm in height. It sits on a 1,360mm long wheelbase and gets ground clearance of 135mm and seat height of 800mm. Suspension is via telescopic front forks and twin gas charged rear shock absorbers. Its 90/90-19 and 120/80-18 tubeless tyres fitted at the front and rear respectively to multi spoke wheels offers better grip and road balance especially over potholes.

Royal Enfield Classic 500 competes with the UM Renegade Classic and UM Renegade Commando and is offered in color options of Desert Storm, Squadron Blue, Chrome, Classic Tan, Classic Black and Classic Silver.
