A 32 seater amphibious bus was launched in Goa on the auspicious day of Dusshera by Goa Tourism. Called ‘Goa Duck Tours’, the new bus will offer tourists in Goa a ride down the River Mandovi. This is the first time in India, that such a bus service has been launched.
Launched by Goa’s Chief Minister, Mr Laxmikant Parsekar, in the presence of Goa Tourism Development Corporation, chairperson, Nilesh Cabral, this amphibious bus has received sanctions from the transport department and is set to begin full operations from November 2016.
These amphibious bus rides will be carried out with two vehicles for a start while another four such buses will be added to the fleet in a phased manner. Bookings can be made through the Goa Tourism website.
Goa has witnessed a surge in number of tourists both Indian and foreign, during the holidays and weekends. These new amphibious buses will offer a thrilling experience and offer tourists a panoramic view of the region both from land and water. The Chief Minister has taken a ride in this amphibious bus which was flagged off on Tuesday and termed it as a unique and trilling experience.
Goa Duck Tours will commence full fledged operations from November. There will be designated pick up points at Panaji while the tours will take two different routes over a 1 hour period and six time slots. The route will operate from Panaji to Old Goa. It will make stops at the Dr. Salim Ali bird sanctuary as well as at various places of natural and cultural interest across the state.
