Daimler reveals Smart ForTwo and ForFour small cars for Europe

Daimler’s fully owned subsidiary, Smart has officially unveiled 2015 ForTwo and ForFour micro city cars, both of which will go on sale later this year in Europe. Revealed officially in hi-res photos and videos, the new Smart city cars will go on sale at the same price as old variant (ForFour will cost €600 ~ Rs 50k more over same spec ForTwo).

New Smart ForTwo ForFour (1)Smart ForTwo measures 2.69m in length, 1.66m in width and stands 1.55m tall sitting on a wheelbase of 1873mm. The ForFour on the other hand is slightly larger with a longer wheelbase measuring 2494mm while total length measures 3.49m. Both models sport a new front fascia with honeycomb grille and two larger headlights with integrated daytime running lights.

New Smart ForTwo ForFour (75)Smart ForFour will see an enhanced cabin space with additional shoulder room while interiors are done up in choices of three color schemes to include blue and white and black with orange or white options. To rival both the Fiat 500 and Hyundai i10 in Europe, Smart ForFour will see fake leather interiors and a host of plastic switches while a standard colour touchscreen acts as a focal point on the dashboard.

New Smart ForTwo ForFour (52)With both Smart ForTwo and ForFour sharing identical exteriors and interiors, the only difference will be additional pair of doors and seats for the ForFour which is basically a long wheelbase version of the ForTwo. Both models get styling cues from FourJoy concept car along with Tridion Safety Cell. ForTwo has 260 liter cargo space while the ForFour cargo space stands at 185 liters and with seats turned down this goes upto 730 liters.

New Smart ForTwo ForFour (12)Three petrol engine options are on offer, in different tunes of 60 PS, 71 PS and 90 PS. At the start, only the 3 cyl 1.0l with 71 PS and 90 PS will be on offer, while the 0.9l turboed 3 cyl will be launched later. A more powerful BRABUS variant will also be on offer.
