2016 Toyota Innova spied: Launch next year to rival Honda Mobilio and Renault Lodgy
The next generation Innova MPV was spotted for the first time, testing in India. Gearing up for launch in 2015-16, the new Innova will be a major facelift and will compete with new-age MPVs like Honda Mobilio and Renault Lodgy.
Spied on test in Bangalore, 2016 Toyota Innova was seen with new grille and refreshed head and tail lights. 2016 Innova will be based on Toyota’s new global TNGA – Toyota New Global Architecture platform also seen on the new Fortuner.
Going by available spy photos snapped while 2016 Toyota Innova was cruising along Bangalore streets, various updates are evident on the Toyota prime model. A well designed front grille flanked by new headlamps, restyled tail lamps and its new TNGA platform were noted deviating from the current generation Toyota Innova which is based on Hilux platform.
The use of TNGA platform, which works much in the same way as VW’s MQB platform, will allow the company to share components amongst its other cars. Sporting a spacious cabin and high end features, the new Toyota Innova will come in with a range of diesel engines currently under development with automatic transmission gearbox.
2016 Toyota Innova was also noted to sport new body panels and new rear glass on its exterior while interiors are also spruced up and more spacious as compared to its earlier counterpart while features such as dual airbags, climate controls, reverse camera and a multifunction steering wheel will be carried forward to the 2016 Innova.
Set to compete with the likes of Honda Mobilio, Chevrolet Enjoy, Maruti Ertiga, Nissan Evalia, and Renault Lodgy (to be launched in 2015), the 2016 Toyota Innova will come in at an expected price of INR 9 – 15 lakhs, ex-showroom, once it is launched next year.
