Its three cylinder petrol engine with turbocharger and direct injection is expect to gain the attention in international markets.

Ford is hoping that their new EcoSport compact SUV will go the same way Ford Figo did in international markets. This compact Figo, is produced from the Ford plant in Maraimalainagar, Chennai, and makes its way to a total of 37 countries across the globe as against 35 countries back in early 2012. It has been well received in Nepal, Africa, UAE and Caribbean and Ford has similar plans for its EcoSport.

Ford is also planning exports to other major markets of Europe in the future. Ford EcoSport comes with EcoBoost technology offering higher level of power and fuel efficiency and lower level of auto emissions. Its three cylinder petrol engine with turbocharger and direct injection is expect to gain the attention in international markets. Besides exporting from Chennai plant, Ford is also keen to initiate exports from the upcoming plant in Sanand, Gujarat.

This new plant will be ready for operations by 2014 while its access as a port will make exports easier. Both the Ford Chennai plant and Sanand plant will have total production capacity to the tune of 4.4 lakh units and 6.10 lakh engines per annum out of which 25% cars and 40% engines will be produced solely for exports.
