May 2014 GM India 43% sales decline, Chevrolet Spark Limited Edition launched
General Motors India reports 4,865 vehicles sold in May 2014. when compared to 8,500 units sold over May 2013, it equates to 43% sales decline for the month. Sales include 1,716 units of Beat, 1,076 units of Tavera and 934 units of Chevrolet Enjoy.
“The automobile industry has been passing through challenging times for the past two years as the general economic and consumer sentiments have failed to pick up. Going forward, we hope to see some improvement in the market in the coming months with a new decisive government in place,” said P. Balendran, Vice President, General Motors India.
With Chevrolet being the best seller for the brand in India, Chevrolet Spark Limited Edition has been launched her today at price of Rs 3.44 to 3.99 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi). The new car features added inserts and accents for a more customised look. In upholding, General Motor’s safety outlook, 51% of total body shell weight consisting of high-strength steel provides great rigidity and stability to protect passengers in case of a head-on or rear-end collision.

Chevrolet Spark B-Pillar comprises of tailor-welded blanks with 2 steel sheets of different thicknesses thereby reducing the chance of B-Pillar’s intrusion into the passenger compartment in case of side impact. Chevrolet Spark engine features a sequential MPFI, dual distributor-less ignition system (DDLI) and a motorized throttle intake system (MTIS).
