McLaren P1 that is set to cost £866,000 ($1.31 million or INR 7.1 crores) has found much interest in Dubai. The concept car debuted at the 2012 Paris Motor Show. Final McLaren P1 production models’ specs and details will be revealed at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show next week. The limited edition will see 375 units.
Interest in the vehicle os high in Dubai and Abu Dhabi and it’s expected that bookings in this region will exceed numbers seen in Dallas. Prospective buyers have already begun placing booking amounts for the McLaren P1 supercar so as to ensure they get one once the company starts production. The McLaren P1 to be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March will be powered by a hybrid twin turbo McLaren M838T twin-turbo 3.8 L V8engine coupled with an electric motor for a power output of 903 bhp.
The engine will be mated to a seven speed dual clutch gear box which will enable acceleration from 0 to 100km/h in less than 3 seconds, and 0 to 200 km/h under 7 seconds. Top speed is electronically limited to 350 km/h (217 mph). Technologies like instant power assist system (IPAS) and drag reduction system (DRS) are integrated within this concept model. The battery can be charged by the engine and can also be plugged in when the need arises.
