Yamaha FZ150i wearing MotoGP livery showcased in Vietnam
Yamaha FZ150i is the first FI (Fuel Injected) CKD (Completely Knocked Down) bike to be launched in Malaysia. FZ150i naked sports bike is present since 2008 there; was later introduced in markets like Indonesia and Vietnam among others. Facelifted FZ150i was launched in some of these markets earlier this year, but not as catching as MotoGP liveried FZ150i showcased in Yamaha Sport World event at Hanoi, Vietnam recently.
Upgraded Yamaha FZ150i has sportier appeal compared to older 2012 model; comes with new 10-spoke star shaped alloy wheels with 90/80-17 front tire and 120/70-17 rear tire. Most significant addition include rear disc brake and new fuel injection system. IPA 1 FI is replaced by 3CI system in 2014 FZ150i that alters engine response. Largely due to increase in output power noted, from 11.1 KW to 12.2 KW max. power and 13.1 Nm to 14.5 Nm peak torque coming from 150cc single cylinder liquid cooled 4-stroke engine with SOHC. Frame of bike is not changed since 2008.
Known as Yamaha V-ixion in Indonesia, new FZ150i gets minor detailing mods including new exhaust heat cover design, tweaked muffler tip, new instrument console with digital speedometer and racy tachometer and upgraded key-lock system with anti-theft shutter. Fuel tank is marginally reshaped to go along with sporty touches given throughout the bike.
But this is nothing compared to looks of Yamaha FZ150i MotoGP edition displayed in Vietnam; not to be sold yet.
Starting price of Yamaha FZ150i in Malaysia is RM8,538 (Rs. 1,59,579 approx.), marginally less expensive than older 2012 model.
