Rumours are spreading that booking for KTM RC 390 has commenced, but we believe that order books will be officially opened on the day of launch. KTM dealers may be filing advance registration of interested buyers to estimate demand, and this could have triggered the talk of bookings being opened. It is believed that delivery may take around 30 to 45 days from date of official booking.
Price of KTM RC 390 will be about Rs. 2.1 to Rs. 2.3 lakhs (ex-shorwoom New Delhi), a step above cost of KTM Duke 390 naked bike. Latter with ABS has a price tag of Rs. 1.87 lakhs.
KTM RC 390 gets same engine and tune seen in Duke 390; 373.2 cc single cylinder 4 stroke water cooled engine pushing 44 PS max. power and 35 Nm peak torque, mated to 6 speed gearbox. Except powertrain, there are quite a few differences in rest of parameters like chassis, suspension and the like.
Duke 390 weighs 139 kg, has unloaded ground clearance of 170 mm, unloaded seat height of 800 mm (from ground), front suspension travel of 150 mm and fuel tank can hold 11 litres of petrol. RC 390 weighs 147 kg, ground clearance measures 178.5 mm, seat height is 20 mm higher, front shocks travel 25 mm shorter and fuel tank holds 1 litre lesser.
KTM RC 200 is also expected to launch in September; date not revealed.
