2013 Christmas Holiday crash stats from Pennsylvania State Police
From 24-26 December, 2013, the 3 day Christmas holiday driving period saw Pennsylvania State Police investigate 900 crashes. Resultantly, there were 255 injuries and 8 deaths. Of those crashes, 41 were alcohol-related, and involved 2 fatalities. 7 of 8 people who lost their lives were not wearing seat belts.
Pennsylvania State Police made 151 arrests for driving under the influence (DUI). Troopers issued 983 speeding citations during those 3 days. 193 individuals were cited for failure to wear seat belts. Citations were issued to 23 drivers for failing to restrain children properly in child safety seats. During 2012′s 4 day Christmas holiday driving period, 7 people were killed and 315 others injured in 1,336 crashes investigated by State Police.
