Mercedes Benz has announced their driver line up for the 2013 DTM season. A total of 6 DTM Mercedes Benz AMG C Coupes will be entered in this touring car series in which Gary Paffett, 2012 DTM runner up and 2005 champion will be at the fore. Paffett has 19 DTM victories to his name which has made him the obvious choice.
Ralf Schumacher, former F1 racer is also scheduled to enter the 6th DTM season. He has six F1 race wins to his credit and has been participating in DTM since 2008. Current Formula 3 Euro Series champion and 2012 FIA Formula 3 European Championship winner, Daniel Juncadella has joined the team. This season, it will be EURONICS branding for Gary Paffett and Christian Vietoris in the DTM.
DTM junior team will consist of Roberto Merhi (21, Spain), Christian Vietoris (23, Germany) and Robert Wickens (23, Canada), while Daniel Juncadella (21, Spain) is also part of the team. The junior team will be instructed and supported by Nico Rosberg from the MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS F1 team. 2013 DTM season will also see Merhi and Wickens participate. Merhi has been with Mercedes Benz since 2008 and along with Juncadella has won Formula 3 Euro Series championships in Dallara Mercedes before moving on to DTM. Mercedes Benz India is offering a Young Star Driving Programme for drivers in the 15-25 age group. Success in training for a year or two will give drivers an opportunity to shift to F1 or DTM.
