Apollo Tyres and Manchester United partnership extended
Apollo Tyres has created a community pitch by repurposing recycled rubber within the Old Trafford premises. As a partner, Apollo Tyres is laying the foundation for next gen talent at the club. Apollo’s first ‘Go the Distance’ pitch is adjacent to the Theatre of Dreams and offers an opportunity for the local community to improve football skills.
The pitch upholds Apollo’s principles of control, agility and accuracy, and key performance aspects. Marco Paracciani, Chief Marketing Officer, Apollo Tyres Ltd spoke of the company’s philosophy of sustainability. The newest innovative pitch endorses Apollo’s long-term investment for the local community’s benefit as sponsor of Manchester United.
The pitch required about 10 tonnes of recycled rubber, an equivalent of 2200 tyres, and is in line with Man Utd’s objective to encourage young talent. Manchester United’s initiatives to nurture talent dates back to the 1950s. Former player, and current assistant manager, Ryan Giggs is from the club’s youth system. Manchester United continues to focus on next gen talent under new manager, Louis Van Gaal.
Man Utd Group Managing Director, Richard Arnold looks at the development as a great opportunity for both the club and Apollo Tyres to engage further with the local community. The new pitch proves that both companies are committed to encouraging young talent. Apollo Tyres confirms its partnership extension with Manchester United across Europe, Asia and Africa as Official Tyre Partner in 69 countries. Manchester United legends Denis Irwin and Andrew Cole joined Marco Paracciani of Apollo, and Jonathan Rigby (Manchester United) were present at the at the launch of the new Apollo community pitch in the shadow of Old Trafford.
