Ashok Leyland registers 19% dip in commercial vehicles sales for Dec 2012

Ashok Leyland trucks sales for Dec 2012 declines by 19%. Compared to 9048 units sold in Dec 2011, the Hinduja Group owned company sold 7299 units in Dec 2012.

Ashok Leyland registers 19 percent dip in sales for Dec 2012

Ashok Leyland, part of the Hinduja Group of companies, announced a decline in sales during December 2012 by about 19.3% with sale of 7,299 units as compared to the same period last year. Last year saw the commercial and heavy vehicle manufacturer based out of Chennai sold 9,048 units.

Apart from this the company registered an 88.2% growth in sales for its small commercial vehicle DOST considering that 2,069 units were sold in December 2012 as compared to 1,099 vehicles sold during the last year. Commercial vehicle sales saw a drop of 34.2 % in December 2012 as compared to last years figures.

During the period from April- December 2012 a growth of 20.6% was recorded with sales of 79,990 units as compared to 66,321 units sold during the previous year. During the same period the company also sold 23,898 DOST vehicles as compared to 2,700 units sold in the similar period last year. Ashok Leyland also registered an 11.8% decline in sales of commercial vehicles during this period as compared to last year’s statistics.
