Bajaj Pulsar 400 launch not before 2016
It is without a doubt that the Pulsar is a very important brand for Bajaj. Together with KTM, Bajaj is making tremendous progress in the sub 500cc segment. It is now revealed, that to further strengthen their position, Bajaj is working on new engines and new platforms for their Pulsar range of motorcycles, which should be launched in the next two years.
These two new platforms with be within the Pulsar family and have been named Family One and Family Two. Family One platform caters to engines of 200cc and below while Family Two engine platform are exclusively for those above 200cc which also include their 375cc engine. These engines are from KTM, but Bajaj is working on them and making them suitable for their Pulsar brand.
Bajaj Auto Limited, the world’s third largest manufacturer of motorcycles and second largest in India have extensive plans for the coming year. The company has seen a sharp decline in sales in the last year with 2.46 million bikes sold in India while they plan to reach a 3 million mark during 2014.
In next two years, one can expect a total of six to seven models are to be launched under the Pulsar brand. These will include Pulsar 150 NS, Pulsar 180 NS, Pulsar 200 SS, Pulsar 200 NS FI, Pulsar 400 CS, and Pulsar 400 SS. All these will be launched at a very competitive price tag, keeping with the Pulsar brand image.
First launch is expected to be of Bajaj Pulsar 200 SS. It is a powerful version of the existing Pulsar 200 NS. It receives twin projector headlamps and new mirrors besides indicators and visor, all of which are seen on board the 200 NS. It is only new tail light design, bigger tank and sport split seats that give the Pulsar 200SS a sportier stance. Engine too has been tuned for added power and performance and will include the same 4 valve liquid cooled 200cc seen on the Pulsar 200 NS, but probably with added peak power.
After this, expect the Pulsar 150 NS, 180 NS and the 200 NS FI to make entry into the country. The last to be launched will be the 400 CS and 400 SS. But do not make the mistake of this is where Bajaj puts a full stop in the Pulsar range. Bajaj has already made it clear, that with growing demand, they will keep introducing higher cc motorcycles in the country.
