Chevrolet to debut Adra Compact SUV to rival Ford EcoSport at Auto Expo
General Motors India has extensive plans for the upcoming 2014 Auto Expo commencing February 5, 2014 at Greater Noida, Delhi, India. The highlight of their presentation will be the all new Adra compact SUV, which will be making it’s global debut at the Show.
Chevrolet Adra compact SUV is a sub- four meter concept, being readied for the emerging segment of the auto industry. Once launched, it will compete effectively with the likes of Ford EcoSport, Nissan Terrano and Renault Duster in India.
Though not much details of the upcoming sub four meter SUV from Chevrolet are revealed, it has been noted to be based on General Motors’ global small vehicle platform, called Gamma 2. This platform is seen on board Beat and Sonic. The sub 4 meter SUV could be powered by the same 77 bhp 1.3 liter diesel engine from Chevrolet Sail and Enjoy. Adra will be placed below their 4.2m Trax compact SUV for Europe.
Positioning the upcoming SUV concept in a sub four meter category means that GM India will be able to price it competitively against both Ford EcoSport and Renault Duster, its two major rivals in India. The reason sub 4 meter is important, due to the fact that it qualifies for lower excise duties if it goes into production. GM India will also have a Beat facelift, Corvette, Trailblazer and accessorized Sail and Enjoy models on display at its pavilion at Auto Expo 2014. (source)
