Ford EcoSport compact SUV launch 19th March 2013 in China, India waits
Ford EcoSport is to be launched in China on 19th March 2013. The upcoming SUV will be manufactured in China through a joint venture with Chang’an Ford and will be offered in a price range from Yuan 94,800 (INR 8.26 lakhs) to Yuan 129,800 (INR 11.31 lakhs).
Chinese customers show more preference for petrol engined vehicles and hence, Ford has made a smart move by deciding to offer EcoSport in two petrol engined guises for Chinese customers, reports AutoHome. Petrol EcoSport SUV will be powered by a 1.5 liter four cylinder petrol engine offering 110 hp and 140 Nm torque and a 1.0 liter three cylinder engine offering 125 hp and 170 nm torque. While the former will be mated to a 5 speed manual or 5 speed Powershift DCT, the latter will be mated to just a 5 speed manual.
Indian car buyers get ready to receive the EcoSport SUV, hopefully this month. Commercials with regard to an interesting contest have appeared on TV. EcoSport Urban Discoveries contest will allow over 100 individuals to drive the EcoSport before official launch.
For Indian markets Ford EcoSport will be produced from the company plant in Maramalainagar, Chennai. It is from here that the company will also conduct its export operations as the EcoSport heads to UK and Europe.
