China-spec Hyundai Verna facelift spied

Hyundai Verna, also known as the Accent in some markets was launched in May 2011. It received immediate attention, thanks to a host of features, powerful engine, seemless power train options and a ‘Fluidic Sculpture’.

Hyundai Verna facelift was spotted in China recently. Hyundai could bring this facelift to India as well. With its fluidic design language graduating to the next level, the new Verna bears sharper lines, distinct headlamps and a hexagonal front grille. Projector headlamps and a more aggressive hood are also evident on the new Verna though the Chinese Verna may be quite different to the one making its way into India.

Being a mid life facelift, there will be no changes to engine and the upcoming Verna could sport the same 1.4 and 1.6 liter petrol and diesel engines. Power figures too will remain the same between 90 hp and 128 hp where the diesel engines are concerned and between 107 hp and 123 hp for their petrol counterparts. The engines will be mated to 4 speed automatic and 6 speed manual gearboxes where the diesel engines are concerned and to 4 speed automatic and 5 speed manual in the case of petrol engines.

In India, during the past year, Verna dominated the sales charts. Hyundai sold a total of 47,212 units of Verna sedan during the period January to November 2013 averaging to around 4,292 units per month. (source)
