Discolor Tyres turn orange indicating time for change

Nothing lasts forever. Everything has a limited life and requires a change to prevent damage and to avert danger. This holds true in the case of vehicle tyres. Over time, the tyre treads wear down, grooves and channels between which help to drain water become shallower and grip on the road is considerably reduced. This results in danger of skidding especially during cornering and loss of control over the vehicle.
‘Discolor Tyre’ is gives the driver an indication that a change of tyre is needed. Tyres are estimated to last at least 12,400 miles (20,000 kms) before the orange tread appears. The change in color begins to show once the layer of black casing wears off to reveal a differently colored rubber beneath.
Two designers have won a Red Dot concept design award for the Bevel Cup. Gao Fenglin and Zhou Buyi have together initiated the idea of Discolor Tyre which they state will be revealed after 20000 kms or 12,400 miles of driving. The colored tread shows due to the fact that the harder black rubber on the surface wears off thus making it easier to detect tears or sources of leaks.
