Eicher 20% sales decline in December 2012

The commercial vehicle segment is facing the brunt of the economic slowdown and this has resulted in a marginal drop in sale of these vehicles. Eicher trucks reported sales of 4032 units during December 2012 which translated into a 20% decline as compared to last years sales. Year to date sales of Eicher vehicles stood at 48262 units as compared to last years 48337 units. This resulted in a slight decline of 0.2% for the company.

The 5T and above segment registered notable growth with sales of 45761 units which is 1.2% more than last year. These sales were mostly included Buses and heavy Duty trucks and CV’s. The company sold 446 units of buses in December 2012 which is a 18.6% growth as compared to last year while year to date sales showcased a 31.2% growth.

The Heavy Duty truck segment showcased a decline in sales with deliveries of 678 units as compared to 939 units sold last December. Year to date sales figures for this segment were registered at 7699 units which is a 4.7% growth.
