For those who went to the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo, the Toyota stall didn't disappoint with their Etios and Liva racing concept cars. Now, Toyota has decided to take their racing cars to fans and aspiring race drivers. Choosing the road show path, the Toyota Etios race sedan was shown in Chandigarh today.
Etios Motor Racing (EMR) registrations are on for drivers with basic go-karting experience in the 15 to 24 years age group. Those who wish to apply can do so at www.toyotaetiosmotorracing.in. Online applications will be accepted till 15th February, 2012. Applicants who are selected will have to pass a a go-kart selection round, and simulator evaluations.
This apart, training for Etios Motor Racing will include lectures by drivers, professional instructors, and local racing experts. Toyota Racing Development (TRD) is responsible for supplying racing parts for the FIA certified cars. They will partner with Red Rooster Racing for better motorsports. The EMR series is a one-make championship that will see the light of day in the latter half of 2013. It is the Etios petrol that will be the chosen one amongst Toyota's motor racing cars for the first season.
