For Gary Paffett it was two wins and a second place in three races after the Brand Hatch DTM. For Thomas Sabo Mercedes AMG C Coupe this was the 167th victory in 344 races since 1988 after the 110th Mercedes pole position. Paffett won his home race at the 2012 DTM season. Bruno Spengler of BMW was five seconds behind him and this made it Paffett’s 19th win in the DTM. It was also his 28th podium finish in 84 races in the DTM.

Paffett is the most successful of all present drivers who are participating in the DTM. After the race Paffett said that this was his home race and winning here made it even more prestigious. The team and Thomas Sabo Mercedes AMG C Coupe were both to thank for their success in the race which was perfectly controlled from start to finish.

From pole position, the Mercedes driver steadily built up his lead to almost three seconds in front of Bruno Spengler in a Schnitzer BMW and eventually won by nearly twice that amount to increase his lead over the Canadian by 25 points.
