General Motors Joins Solar Energy Industries Association

General Motors have united with Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) in their bid to contribute to a more enhanced solar industry in the US. It is part of the company’s endeavor to support the solar industry and help other organisations in implementation of renewable energy policies. General Motors will guide other industries in how to plan and implement renewable energy strategies in order to make solar energy a major source of energy.

In 2012, General Motors was ranked No.1 by SEIA where use of solar energy was concerned. During the past year General Motors’ solar systems and arrangements enabled generation of energy enough to power 800 US households. It is the company’s endeavor to increase these efforts two fold during the current year. The company will also discuss ways and means to provide clean and affordable transportation and energy systems to people across the US.

General Motors uses solar power at its facilities. 2.1% of GM’s energy consumption comes from renewable sources. By harnessing power from the sun, there is less of a drain on other conventional sources of energy which improves overall efficiency and contributes to a greener planet.
