HCIL to sell 3 lakh cars p.a. by 2017: Honda Amaze 1st rollout at Tapukara plant, India
The new Honda Cars India Limited Tapukara plant in Rajasthan was inaugurated today, 24th February 2014. This is the company’s second manufacturing facility in India, the first being in Greater Noida which was set up in 1997.
The new Honda plant in Tapukara along with its plant in Noida, will see total production increase two fold to about 240,000 units per annum. The new facility is spread over an area of 450 acres and is situated in the Alwar district of Rajasthan about 190 kms away from the HCIL plant in Noida, UP.
It was in 2008 that phase one of the plant was inaugurated from where the company already produces engine components and transmission parts both for domestic and export purposes.
Once fully functional, the Honda Tapukara plant will offer employment to a total of 3200 associates. With added capacity, the new Tapukara plant will allow the company to meet increased demand and reduce waiting periods, especially where the much in demand Amaze sedan and City sedan are concerned.
