Honda Motors donates INR 3 crores for Uttarakhand flood relief operations
The floods have abated and the Government of Uttarakhand has declared a total of 5000+ dead. However, the question of reconstruction and redevelopment, relief and rehabilitation continues with funds pouring in from all quarters. The latest from auto industry to join, is Honda Motors India.
Honda Motor Company has announced a donation of INR 3 crores for relief operations of victims of floods and devastation which recently struck Uttarakhand. The amount will also be used for reconstruction of the area, restoration of roads and severely damaged infrastructure.
A cheque for this amount was handed over to Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Mr. Vijay Bahuguna. The donated amount was contributed by all Honda group companies in India which included Honda Cars India Ltd., Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt Ltd., Honda SIEL Power Products Ltd, Honda R&D (India) Pvt. Ltd and Honda Motor India Pvt. Ltd besides voluntary contributions made by Honda employees and dealers.
Other auto companies had also donated generously to this worthy cause that affected the region in June 2013. Maruti Suzuki India had donated INR 1.56 crores to the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund while on June 20, 2013, Mahindra Group had contributed an amount of INR 1 crore to the Uttarakhand Chief Minister’s relief fund, while Tata Group donated their 1 day’s salary.
