Hyundai Santa Fe launch and HND-9 concept: Auto Expo
Hyundai India displayed a range of new cars at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo. They unveiled a new car, called Xcent which is based on the Grand i10 hatch. Hyundai launched new Santa Fe, showcased HND-9 concept, and i20 WRC. Here is a collection of images from India’s largest auto show, which concludes tomorrow.
Hyundai India launched the new Santa Fe (3rd gen) at the 12th Auto Expo. Speaking at the launch, B S Seo, Managing Director & CEO, HMIL said, “The 3rd Generation Powerful and Dynamic Santa Fe is world-class product and will set new benchmark in India’s SUV segment. The new Santa Fe is one of the finest expressions of Modern Premium with high level of Performance, Power, Styling, Technology and Equipment that demonstrates Hyundai’s capabilities and confirm its commitment of value beyond expectation to customers.”
New Santa Fe is powered by 3rd Gen 2.2L CRDi engine ( R Series) with e-VGT turbocharger. Max power stands at 197PS@3,800rpm, and max torque at 42.9kgm@1800-2500 rpm (MT) and 44.5kgm@1800-2500 rpm (AT). Mileage is pegged at 14.74 kmpl (MT-ARAI certified) and 13.01kmpl (AT-ARAI certified). Electronic Variable Geometry Turbocharger (e-VGT) improves engine performance. The 6 speed – manual and automatic transmission comes with a 4WD System. With ‘Storm Edge design philosophy’ derived from Hyundai’s Fluidic design philosophy the new look Santa Fe wears a three-bar hexagonal front grille.
New Santa Fe holds luggage space of 585 ltrs, and wears a 2-Tone beige and brown interior. Its multi-function steering wheel, leather wrapped gear knob, and multi-function door arm rest with ergonomically positioned center fascia controls. 3 row seven-passenger seating sees a third row seat split at 50/50 for it to be folded flat. Second row is 40:20:40 split. 2nd and 3rd row seats can be reclined and fully folded for flexibility in cargo storage. The 12-way Driver Power seat, rear door manual curtain and flexible seating configuration can be beneficial during a long drive and holiday trips. Safety features include ABS (Anti-lock Braking System), ESC (Electronic Stability Control) and VSM (Vehicle Stability Management).
New Santa Fe with Flex Steer has 3 modes – Comfort, Normal and Sport. There’s Advance Traction Cornering Control (ATCC), Fog lamps with cornering lamps, Rear door manual curtain, LED positioning Lamps, 12 way power seats, 6- Airbags. Available in 5 new colours, 2WD MT, 2WD AT, and 4WD AT is available at a price of Rs. 2,630,000, Rs. 2,715,000, and Rs. 2,925,000 (Ex-showroom price Delhi).
Hyundai Auto Expo Pavilion features HND-9 luxury sports coupe concept, an embodiment of ‘Fluidic Sculpture’ design philosophy. The RWD sports coupe concept is the 9th to be developed by the Hyundai Motor Group’s R&D Center in Namyang, Korea.
Other showcases include Hyundai i20 WRC, and ‘My Baby’ global design project for submission of designers’ creative ideas on future transportation based on this year’s theme. Selected creations are modeled and unveiled at the biennial Seoul Motor Show.
Bluewill’s Vroomland new characters at the Auto Expo’14 is to help children learn about automobile & the environment. Animated characters include ‘Bluewill’, ‘Pinko’, ‘Accel, ‘Radi’ etc.
