Lamborghini ready to celebrate 50th anniversary

Lamborghini turns 50 this year. The tractor to sportscar manufacturer, will unveil a one-off special edition based on the Aventador J. Apart from this, Lamborghini owners from around the world will gather in Italy to mark the 50th anniversary celebrations.

50 years ago, Ferruccio Lamborghini presented 350 GTV the first car to bear his name and since then there are a number of Lamborghini’s seen around the world. This event which took place in 1963, presented Lamborghini as an auto manufacturer to the world. Since then production, of these sportscars has grown considerably from a measly low volume operation to one that churns out about 2000+ units each year depending on demand.

To help celebrate the brands 50th anniversary, a tour will be held which will be attended by Lamborghini owners and dealers from all over the world. It will commence on 7th of May and will continue till the 11th May 2013, covering 1,200 km of Italy’s roads. The route will begin from Milan and end at the location where Ferruccio laid the foundation stone for the first manufacturing plant, in Sant’Agata Bolognese.

A video titled ‘100 years of innovation in half that time’ was released on 31st of December and contained footage of the past and present achievements of Lamborghini. Some of its achievements include making use of carbon fiber in their manufacturing process, which lowers weight of Lamborghini cars considerably and provides them with better performance extracts.
