Land Rover Defender crushed in US for not meeting safety regulations (Photos and Video)
US Department of Homeland Security officials have crushed a Land Rover Defender SUV in order to make roads in the US safer. Seems far fetched, but this is exactly what their officer says in the video. The reason custom officers in Baltimore destroyed the Defender is that it was not an original model, it was tampered with.
The Land Rover Defender in images here, is not real one from the 1970′s. According to on-duty officials, after inspecting it thoroughly, it was no way a classic, and in reality it was a 2005 model. As the importer had tampered with the safety systems, the car was unfit for US roads. This is why it was crushed to death, as you can see in the images below.
Featuring on the wrong side of the law, as US Customs and Border Protection forces saw through the guise, despite the fact that the importer altered the car’s VIN number and gave it a B registration number plate. Airbags were also removed. A British made car of this sort could find a lucrative market in the US fetching close to $100,000 (six times it’s UK value) and above, but now it is hardly worth $30.
