LML has launched their Select 150 cc scooter in New Delhi and NRC region. Powered by a 2 stroke, 8 bhp engine, LML Select reminds us of the good old days when the roads in India were filed with Bajaj Chetak and Priya.
LML – Lohia Machinery Limited along with Italian scooter manufacturer Vespa, launched LML Vespa scooters in India. But due to their high price and immense popularity of Bajaj scooters, LML Vespa finally ended their stint in India.
Laterl LML tried entering the motorcycle market. Partnering with Korean manufacturer Daelim, LML launched 150 cc Energy and Adreno bikes in India. In early 2000-01, LML launched another 110 cc bike, Freedom. None of these bikes made its mark in the industry and once again LML had to shut the project.
On one side where LML’s business in India was failing, its scooters were gaining popularity amongst many countries around the globe. Scooters are not in fashion these days. Bajaj too stopped manufacturing them as young India is shifting to motorcycles. But somehow people in Delhi/NCR still prefer scooter. In an attempt to revamp their business, LML have launched Select II 150 in Delhi and NCR.
