Mahindra Centuro top end variant with front disc brake is expected to add to success that the company has seen with Mahindra Centuro base variant which was launched earlier. In January, the company announced sales of over 100,000 units of the Centuro in just 6 months.
Codenamed 01-D, Centuro with disc brake will sport all features seen on board the regular variant with addition of front disc brake which was seen in a petal shape in the images. Centuro 01-D will receive an 110cc engine capable of 8.5 PS peak power at 7,500 rpm and 8.5 Nm torque at 5,500 rpm, while ARAI certifies that the bike could claim fuel efficiency of 85.4 kmpl. Its features will include some unique features such as anti-theft alarm, engine immobilizer, follow me home lamps, economy mode indicator, distance to empty and more.
The new Mahindra 01-D will find strong competition in India on launch. Its competitors will include the Hero Passion Pro, soon to be launched Passion X Pro, Honda Twister, Dream Yuga and Suzuki Hayate. The bike will also compete against Bajaj Platina, Discover 100 and TVS Star City.
Produced from the company plant in Pitampur, Mahindra is gearing up to increase production to 2,000 units per day as the launch of the new disc brake variant is predicted to stir up demand considerably. Mahindra has also several new launches in the pipeline and plan to increase export markets from a current 11 to 15 by the end of this year with new markets of Nigeria and Columbia being explored.
