Mahindra hybrid technology to increase fuel efficiency by 20%
Mahindra & Mahindra, leading utility vehicle makers in the country are in the process of developing a new hybrid technology. This technology will make its way into top end variants of company SUV line-up, which include the likes of XUV500 and Scorpio.
The USP of this new technology is it’s ability to be installed on cars with manual transmission. Automatic cars are not only expensive, but also consume more fuel, and thus it wouldn’t be feasible to install the technology on cars with automatic transmission.
Mahindra & Mahindra are also the fore-runners in India where hybrid and electric technology in cars in concerned. Their Mahindra Reva Electric Car Company is the world’s largest as per production capacity and it produces the world’s most affordable 4 seater battery run car. Mahindra Reva is moving ahead in its endeavor to be a leading company in sustainable green mobility. The company has entered into an agreement with Samsung SDI, a global leader in lithium ion batteries. The two companies will work in close alliance for the development and supply of these batteries which will make their way into the Mahindra hybrid range. (source)
