Mahindra hybrid technology to increase fuel efficiency by 20 percent

With this new hybrid technology, which is the world’s first, Mahindra will be able to deploy it in their utility vehicles with manual transmission. Once installed, the fuel efficiency will be enhanced by nearly 20%. Mahindra & Mahindra are expected to debut this new hybrid technology at the upcoming India Auto Expo to be held in February, wherein more details will be evident while the company is on the road to cement its name where strict adherence to green technologies are concerned.

The USP of this new technology is it’s ability to be installed on cars with manual transmission. Automatic cars are not only expensive, but also consume more fuel, and thus it wouldn’t be feasible to install the technology on cars with automatic transmission.

Mahindra & Mahindra are also the fore-runners in India where hybrid and electric technology in cars in concerned. Their Mahindra Reva Electric Car Company is the world’s largest as per production capacity and it produces the world’s most affordable 4 seater battery run car. Mahindra Reva is moving ahead in its endeavor to be a leading company in sustainable green mobility. The company has entered into an agreement with Samsung SDI, a global leader in lithium ion batteries. The two companies will work in close alliance for the development and supply of these batteries which will make their way into the Mahindra hybrid range. (source)
