Maruti Celerio a Grand success: Receiving 1000 bookings per day
After a rather quiet 2013, Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) stepped up the heat in the compact car segment with the new Celerio launched at 2014 Auto Expo. Aimed squarely at Indian auto sector, Celerio is being offered both with manual and automatic transmissions.
The new compact car has been an instant hit even before it it was showcased and the company has confirmed that it has been receiving 1000 bookings per day, reveals NDTV. The design of Celerio is based on A-Wind concept and is being offered with a petrol engine only. Celerio is first car in the country to sport Automated Manual Transmission and Maruti officials have also confirmed that ARAI rated mileage is the same at 23.1 liters for both manual and automatic variants.
Following the recently announced interim budget, MSIL has reduced prices across range and this includes the Celerio as well. Maruti Celerio which is available in trim levels LXi, VXi and ZXi and ZXi Option was priced between INR 3.9 lakhs and INR 4.59 lakhs at launch, is now priced between INR 3.76 lakhs and INR 4.43 lakhs. AMT is available in base LXi and VXi trims only.
MSIL expects Celerio to boost sales in the compact segment which has been down by 4.7% YoY in the last 10 months. MSIL Swift, Estilo and Ritz together sold 24,473 units in January 2014 and with the Celerio promising 25,000 to 30,000 units per month should add significant momentum to sales especially at a time when the entire auto industry is experience a sharp downturn.
