Maruti Suzuki exports nosedive, 2013 November India sales decline 5.9%

Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL), the country’s largest automaker has announced a 10.7% decline in November sales. During the past month, MSIL sold a total of 92,140 units as against 1,03,200 units sold in November 2012.


Exports during November 2013 were down 46.2% as the company exported just 6,630 units as against 12,318 units exported in November 2012. Decline in sales was both where domestic sales and exports were concerned. Total domestic sales dipped 5.9% during the month and stood at 85,510 units as against 90,882 units in the same month in the previous year.

During the past month, the company’s small car range showed a marginal improvement of 3.7% as 38040 units of M800, Alto, A Star and WagonR were sold as compared to 36,679 units in November 2012. It was in sales of Swift, Estilo and Ritz where adverse impact was noted as the company sold just 18,122 units of these models during November 2013 as against 23,849 units in November 2012.

Swift DZire also saw increased demand as the company sold 15,286 units of this model as compared to 13,502 units in November 2012, but SX4 demand dropped considerably by 71.1% to just 200 units sold as against 692 units sold in November 2012. The company also sold only a single unit of Kizashi while 5,840 units of Ertiga, Grand Vitara and Gypsy were sold and 8,021 units of Omni and Eeco vans were sold, a drop of 21.5% and 7.3% respectively.
