To be priced at £1.98 million (Rs 20 crores, or $3.35 million), this exclusive program is by invite-only. It is believed that all the 375 owners of P1 have been contacted, and a few out of them, who are interested, will be selected for this program. As of now it is not clear how many units will be on offer.
McLaren has not revealed much information about the track-only P1 GTR. All they have revealed is the price, and the intended output of 1,000 PS (986 hp). Built with input from best race track drivers from around the world today, the McLaren P1 GTR will feature “race-proven slick tyres, a widened track and more aggressive and distinctive styling designed to offer optimised performance around a lap.”
The GTR program will began once the final unit of P1 is delivered to its owner, which is expected to happen by the middle of 2015. This also time also marks McLaren’s 20th anniversary victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans with their F1 GTR.
