Slimane Toubal, a French clay artist has created what he imagines to be the modern day Mercedes Benz 300 SL Gullwing coupe and Roadster. The artist has also worked on several other vehicles of Audi, Honda, and also the new PSA Peugeot Citroen office in China. He has given us his own version of what he feels should be the latest model of Mercedes Benz 300SL.

His model reflects styling from the 1950 300SL while roadster model is given a hard top against soft top SLS AMG. Mercedes Benz originally intended the 300SL to be a race car and did not want to build a road going version. However, a New Yorker named Max Hoffman ordered 1,000 vehicles and hence the road going version of 300SL came into being.

These cars started with a price of $6,820 reaching $8,902 by the end of production. 300SL engine is reliable. It is slanted to the left to accommodate the low hood line. Other changes were also necessary and included a steel body shell with aluminum hood and lower rock panels and door to help in reducing weight.
