Mercedes Benz India expansion plans sees INR 850 crores investment
Mercedes Benz India has expansion plans afoot for their plant in Pune. Following the fact that India has become the second market besides the US, from where local production of Mercedes Benz M Class has commenced, the company has raised its investment plans to the tune of INR 850 crores.
Mercedes Benz India has now slipped behind Audi and BMW as far as sales are concerned. During the past year, Mercedes Benz sold a total of 7,138 units in the form of whole sales to dealers, thereby achieving their target for the year. The company’s Kolkata dealer was the highest performer during 2012. 8 new products were introduced in India in 2012. These included the new M Class, C Class AMG performance edition and the C Class sports edition. Apart from announcing Performance Drive in January 2013, MB India launched their first car of this year, in the form of G63 AMG.
