Mercedes-Benz India 2014 Young Star Driver registration begins
Mercedes-Benz India Young Star Driver Programme is back for 2014 with registrations now open. Finals are scheduled on August 8th, 2014 at Buddh International Circuit (BIC). ‘Mercedes-Benz Young Star Driver’ winner participates in AMG Driving Academy Basic and Advanced course in India, and has an opportunity to win a AMG Driving Academy PRO-Training seat in Germany.
Next in line wins gets to attend the AMG Driving Academy Basic and Advanced course in India. The young winner will also meet Mercedes AMG PETRONAS Formula One team drivers, Lewis Hamilton or Nico Rosberg at a F1 race this year.
Participants can visit the Mercedes-Benz Performance Drive website and register for the Young Star Driver Program, or use Facebook, Twitter or Google Plus account to upload their CV. This is an exclusive Mercedes-Benz India platform to find young motorsport talents. Participants need to be in the age group of 18-25 years. Aspirants will be evaluated on race track training, racing acumen, aptitude and accomplishments.
The nationwide programme will see Vicky Chandhok and his team conduct evaluations. 24 shortlisted participants will compete to qualify for the final 6 slots. Elimination rounds are scheduled for 7th August 2014, and grand finale on 8th August 2014. Priority is laid on applicants with background and achievement in motorsports, though it is not a limitation. Mercedes-Benz Young Star Driver 2013 saw about 3200 applications pan India. The programme is a major step for winners to shape a racing career.
2013 saw Niranjan B Todkari finish 1st, Diljith – 2nd, and Mezaan Anees-3rd. Kerala racer Diljith T Shaji has made headway in Indian motorsports, most recently racing for Dark Don Racing in the Formula LGB4 category to take home a hat trick of wins in June 2014.
