New Ford Fiesta 2014 variant launch this month?
Betting big on the Indian car market, Ford Motor Company unveiled a host of new cars at last month’s Delhi Auto Expo. The mid sized Fiesta sedan facelift, compact sedan Figo, Ecosport with sunroof, Figo hatchback, premium SUV Endeavour and the Classic sedan were all in attendance at the Ford pavilion at Auto Expo in February.
Of these, it is the new 2014 Ford Fiesta facelift that will be launched first, by the end of this month, reveals Zigwheels. Ford Fiesta facelift could be priced between INR 7.5 lakhs to INR 10 lakhs and will receive a host of upgrades over and above those presented on the current model. A new front grille with extensive use of chrome gives the upcoming Fiesta a more premium appearance while interiors have also been improved to include a new dashboard and more comfortable seats.
Being offered both with petrol and diesel engine options, the Ford Fiesta Facelift will come in with a 1.6 liter petrol engine and probably with a 1.0 liter EcoBoost engine which has received a host of awards globally. Once launched, the new Fiesta will improve Ford’s prowess in the segment which is currently ruled by Hyundai Verna and new Honda City.
Speaking about the new Fiesta at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo, Ford’s executive director of Marketing, Sales and Service, Vinay Piparsania says, “The Ford Fiesta has been lauded by enthusiasts in India for its superior driving dynamics, smart features and democratising technology in the B segment. With a new, bolder look and more refinement, the Ford Fiesta truly stands out as a premium mid-sized sedan. We are proud to offer a product that will make an even more compelling choice for discerning drivers when it launches later in the year.”
The new Fiesta features a trapezoidal front grille – a signature of Ford’s global family, bracketed by laser-cut headlamps, the power-dome hood design adds to the changes, giving the car a more assertive and confident appearance. Ford says that the designers paid special attention to the Ford badge, which is inlaid into the surface, showing pride and craftsmanship.
At the rear, the tail lamps have been given more detail to be in harmony with the expressive head lamps. The new Ford Fiesta also features a new deck lid and bumper fascia, with a chrome accent to further convey visual width and a premium look.
Inside you will see mobile phone-inspired dashboard and leather steering wheel with audio controls. The new Ford Fiesta features a high-gloss finish for the upper instrument panel that flows to the lower centre console and is replicated in door panels. For those who prefer a light interior, the designers put in a two-tone instrument panel which creates visual space and roominess.
A satin-chrome detailing finish is offered along with Ford’s signature Ice Blue lighting to illuminate dials, switches and displays. They also ensured that surfaces and knobs convey quality at every touch. New seat fabrics and designs are offered with comfort fabric trims. Eye-catching patterns and textures, including contrast stitching, also add to the vibrant new interior ambience, while additional supporting bolsters improve comfort.
Ford says, “The new Ford Fiesta gives drivers the perfect blend of a connected world and an enjoyable driving experience with Ford SYNC with AppLink. The award-winning hands-free in-car connectivity system enables drivers to keep their hands on the wheel and eyes on the road while choosing music, making phone calls and controlling their favourite smartphone applications using voice commands.”
New Ford Fiesta is also high on safety. To ensure the driver’s peace of mind, the new Ford Fiesta has been designed to provide high levels of protection and driver support with high-strength, lightweight steel and a comprehensive safety package.
“The 2014 Ford Fiesta takes our strongest global nameplate to the next level. With its unmatched combination of quality, performance, safety, smart technologies and stunning looks, we’re confident that it will help us to attract and serve even more new customers-to-Ford in India,” adds Piparsania.
