New Honda Civic not to be launched in India because it is too expensive and has no diesel variant
The new Honda Civic arrived in various countries around the world earlier this year, and was supposed enter the Indian car market this year. But,…
Honda Motors which was the leading premium mid-sized sedan manufacturer in India once upon a time has suffered the most due to the recent hike in fuel prices. Their condition has worsened even more as they do not offer a single model with diesel engine. Sales of diesel powered cars in India have continued to rise despite the hike in fuel prices because compared to petrol, diesel is not only cheaper but also offers more value for money. The biggest disadvantage of a diesel powered car is that their fumes are the cause of cancer according to WHO.
Honda car sales in India are declining and in the month of June 2012, they sold just 2,667 cars, compared to 10,334 cars sold in the month of May 2012. Of the 2,667 cars sold, 52 units were Accord, 609 Brio, 1,254 City, 58 Civic, 45 CRV, and 649 Jazz.
The need of the hour for Honda India is to introduce a small car or a diesel powered variant for their existing models. Earlier yesterday, it was reported that Honda is working on a small petrol car which will be powered by a 66 cc petrol engine, images of the same were also revealed. Click here to read more.
