Next Gen Skoda Fabia spied before official unveil later this year
With the new Rapid, updates being made on both the Octavia and Superb, Skoda has also been paying some attention to B segment vehicles which brings into focus the 2015 Skoda Fabia. This next generation Skoda Fabia has been spied for the first time while being tested in Nurburgring, sporting an angular exterior design and close resemblance to the Rapid.
2015 Skoda Fabia spotted on test, was noted to have a wide grille, sportier front, rear end showcased a new tailgate and integrated spoiler along with redesigned tail lights. To be unveiled in production guise in October at 2014 Paris Motor Show, 2015 Skoda Fabia will be offered in both petrol and diesel engine options.
These engine options are not confirmed as on date, but could include 1.2 liter TSI turbo petrol unit seen on the Polo along with a 1.2 liter 3 cylinder petrol engine. The diesel options would be a 1.5 liter TDI currently being tested for the Polo along with a 1.5 liter engine mated to a 6 speed DSG gearbox.
The third generation Fabia will be first model from VW Group to sit on a smaller version of MQB platform. The MQB platform has already made its way onto the new VW Polo, Seat Ibiza and Audi A1. 2015 Fabia will be longer and wider than its earlier counterpart resulting in improved space both in passenger area and where boot space is concerned.
To be launched in India by late 2014 or early 2015, 2015 Skoda Fabia will compete with Maruti Suzuki Swift, Hyundai i20, VW Polo and Fiat Grande Punto.
