Nissan DeltaWing scores first ever points with race finish at Atlanta 1000-mile Petit Le Mans race

Mission Accomplished: Petit Le Mans Top FiveThis past weekend was extra special for Nissan DeltaWing at Atlanta’s 1000 mile Petit Le Mans races. The team scored their first ever race finish as they finished in fifth place overall. Nissan DeltaWing started from the back of the grid and behind 42 endurance racers and yet succeeded in an overall fifth place finish.

2012 has been notable for Nissan powered teams as they saw top three positions in ELMS LMP2 Championships with Nismo tuned Nissan VK45DE V8 engine. Nissan DeltaWing’s weekend performance went of uneventfully as compared to what was experienced on Wednesday’s test session when the vehicle collided with a GTC class Porsche which later hit the Muscle Milk car during the race.

It was this video titled ‘Attacked in Atlanta’ that drew the attention of over 700,000 viewers in YouTube. Getting the vehicle fixed in time for the weekend’s events was a major task but the Nissan DeltaWing was ready for Petit Le Mans and its fifth place win was even more noteworthy.
